In a significant development ahead of the upcoming Haryana elections, Congress leader Randeep Surjewala announced on Monday that Sirsa MP Kumari Selja will rejoin the party’s campaign efforts starting September 26. This announcement comes amid swirling rumors of internal strife within the Congress party, particularly concerning Selja’s involvement in key campaign activities.

Surjewala confirmed that Selja would address a public meeting in Narwana on the same day at noon, asserting, “Under the leadership of Rahul Gandhi and Kharge ji, Congress will fight, win, and make the dreams of Haryana come true.” However, her recent absence from crucial party events has led to speculation about her satisfaction with the party’s direction and leadership decisions.

Kumari Selja, a veteran politician and influential Dalit leader, has reportedly been unhappy with the high command’s decision to allow her rival, Bhupinder Hooda, a significant say in ticket distribution. This has fueled concerns among her supporters, who claim that she is receiving “step-motherly treatment” from the party.

As the election date approaches, Selja’s participation—or lack thereof—has raised eyebrows. Reports suggest she has been distancing herself from the campaign, causing worries about party unity and her role in the upcoming elections. Her absence was notably felt during important events, including the launch of the party’s manifesto led by national president Mallikarjun Kharge.

Adding to the drama, former Chief Minister and current BJP leader Manohar Lal Khattar publicly invited Selja to join the BJP, highlighting the ongoing tensions within the Haryana Congress. Khattar’s remarks indicate a strategic attempt to capitalize on the perceived rifts within Congress and attract prominent leaders like Selja to the BJP.

With less than two weeks remaining until the crucial elections, the Congress party faces challenges not only from external rivals but also from within its ranks. The upcoming campaign activities, particularly Selja’s public address, will be closely watched for indications of party cohesion and her commitment to the Congress agenda moving forward.
