Srinagar: In a significant operation, the Indian Army successfully eliminated three terrorists attempting to infiltrate across the Line of Control (LoC) in Machhal and Tangdhar sector of Jammu and Kashmir.

On August 28, credible inputs were received from intelligence agencies, which was further corroborated by Jammu & Kashmir Police regarding likely infiltration attempts from these areas. Based on the inputs, troops from the Indian Army, JKP and Border Security Force (BSF) laid ambushes on the likely infiltration routes in both Machhal and Tangdhar sector

At about 2000 hours, the ambush teams in Machhal sector observed movement of terrorists through thick foliage, at about 600 meters on their own side of LoC. The infiltrating terrorists were challenged and immediately an intense exchange of fire ensued.

Meanwhile, in the Tangdhar sector also, at about 2100 hours, there was exchange of fire between security forces and infiltrating terrorists from about 100 meters on their own side of LoC. Both the sectors witnessed heavy exchange of fire.

In this firefight, two terrorists were eliminated in Machhal sector and one in Tangdhar sector

This successful intelligence-based operation is yet another example of the close synergy between Indian Army, JKP & BSF and also underscores the Indian Army’s unwavering commitment to ensure the sanctity of the LoC and the robust counter infiltration posture towards maintaining peace in the Kashmir valley.
