Election Commission Allocates Symbol “Man Blowing Turha” to Sharad Pawar-led NCP Faction

The Election Commission of India made a significant announcement on Thursday, allocating a new symbol to the faction of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) led by veteran politician Sharad Pawar. The symbol chosen is a “man blowing a turha,” a traditional trumpet.

In its statement, the poll panel clarified, “The Commission has already allotted the name of ‘Nationalist Congress Party Sharadchandra Pawar’ to the group led by Sharad Pawar. Further, as per the request received, a ‘Man Blowing Turha’ is allotted to the group/party in all parliamentary constituencies in the state of Maharashtra.”

“The Tutari, which invokes the great valor of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, had once deafened the emperor of Delhi,” expressed NCP (Sharadchandra Pawar) in a post on X.

Acknowledging the symbolic significance bestowed upon their party, NCP Sharad spokesperson Clyde Crasto stated, “It is a great honor for our party to get ‘Tutari’ as the symbol for the upcoming elections. Our Tutari is now ready to shake Delhi’s throne under the leadership of Sharadchandra Pawar.”

Jitendra Awhad, a leader of the NCP-Sharad Pawar faction, expressed gratitude towards the Election Commission for the symbol allocation, saying, “We suggested three different symbols to the Election Commission for our party. However, they gave us the symbol ‘Tutari’. In a way, they gave us best wishes for fighting. This is a ‘good sign’ for us. Thanks to the Election Commission for this. This has given a clear message that ‘You stand for war and win’ to the warrior named Sharad Pawar and his soldiers by giving the symbol ‘Tutari’.”
