Pakistan Election Update: Shehbaz Sharif and Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari Set to Form Government; Focus Shifts to Imran Khan, Claims Report

In a bid to navigate the murky waters of post-election uncertainty, the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) have joined forces to form a coalition government at both the federal and provincial levels in Punjab. According to Geo News, the talks between Shehbaz Sharif and the PPP leadership focused on the formation of the future government, with Sharif conveying a message from his brother, Nawaz Sharif. During the meeting, which lasted for about 45 minutes, Shehbaz Sharif urged Bilawal Bhutto and Asif Ali Zardari to engage in dialogue with the PML-N leadership to ensure political and economic stability in the country.

Sources within both parties revealed that a consensus has been reached to establish a coalition government in Punjab and at the federal level. The next meeting will reportedly address details regarding the power-sharing arrangement, including the allocation of ministerial positions, through mutual consultation.

The general elections in Pakistan, held on Thursday, concluded with no clear victor as the tedious process of vote counting continued into Saturday. Despite expectations of prompt results, delays persisted, underscoring the challenges in achieving political stability in the nation.

Former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, in a bid to consolidate power, announced plans to form a united government with the support of his former allies, including the PPP, Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (F), and Muttahida Qaumi Movement (Pakistan).
