Union Home Minister Amit Shah, speaking at a rally in Kolkata, reiterated the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) led central government’s commitment to implementing the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA). Shah firmly stated that despite opposition, the implementation of CAA would proceed, challenging West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, asserting that no force can hinder its execution.
“Bengal has recorded the highest cases of infiltration, hindering development. We are resolute in implementing CAA, and no one can obstruct it. Mamata Banerjee previously disrupted Parliament over this issue and is now allegedly issuing voter cards to infiltrators,” Shah asserted.
Expanding on his critique of the Trinamool Congress (TMC) government, Shah pointed fingers at both the Communists and TMC, accusing them of having ‘destroyed’ Bengal’s prospects.
Referring to recent controversies, Shah emphasized the need for accountability within the TMC ranks. “Coming from Gujarat, I’ve not witnessed such significant sums of money discovered from a minister’s residence. Should Mamata Banerjee not take action against Jyotipriya Mallick, Anubrata Mondal, and Partha Chatterjee from TMC?” Shah questioned.
The rally marked Shah’s firm stance on the implementation of CAA, highlighting the BJP’s commitment to addressing the issue of infiltration and asserting that no opposition, including Mamata Banerjee’s, would impede the government’s plans.
