Industries Minister Uday Samant has placed blame on the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) government, led by Uddhav Thackeray, for the departure of major industries from Maharashtra. In a social media post on X, he asserted that the Thackeray government is solely responsible for the exit of significant businesses, including Vedanta, Foxconn, Airbus, Tata, and the Bulk Drug Park.
Samant cited the ‘Vaze incident’ as a pivotal moment that eroded investors’ confidence in the state. The incident involved a reinstated police officer, Sachin Vaze, planting a car filled with explosives near an industrialist’s residence in the city.
According to Samant, the Vaze incident sent shock waves through the business world and tarnished Mumbai’s image as a safe destination for business. He added that the significant political support Vaze received from the Thackeray government had a demoralizing impact on businesses and investors.
The Industries Minister emphasized that while the effects of the incident will be long-lasting, the state is working to regain investors’ confidence through various policies and decisions implemented over the past year.
Samant concluded by suggesting that instead of politicizing important projects, the Thackeray government should apologize to the people of the state for the loss of faith and confidence among investors.
