In a press release on Monday, the Adani Group addressed a recent complaint made by Supreme Court lawyer Jai Anant Dehadrai against Trinamool Congress MP Mahua Moitra and Darshan Hiranandani, CEO of the Hiranandani Group. The complaint was filed with the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in the form of a sworn affidavit on Sunday, accusing Moitra and Hiranandani of targeting the Adani Group through parliamentary questions.

The complaint by Jain Anant Dehadrai alleges that Moitra received bribes and undue favors from Hiranandani, casting a shadow on the integrity of her actions in Parliament. The Adani Group’s statement underscores that there are concerted efforts by certain groups and individuals to tarnish the company’s reputation.

The statement from the Adani Group reads, “This development corroborates our statement of 9 October, 2023, that some groups and individuals have been working overtime to harm our name, goodwill, and market standing. In this particular case, the lawyer’s complaint reveals that this arrangement to besmirch the reputation and interests of the Adani Group and our Chairman Mr. Gautam Adani has been in place since 2018.”

Following the complaint, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Nishikant Dubey wrote a letter to Union IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw and Union Minister of State (MoS) IT Rajeev Chandrashekhar, raising “cash for query” allegations against Trinamool Congress MP Mahua Moitra. Dubey has demanded the establishment of an inquiry committee to investigate the matter further.

This development follows Dubey’s earlier letter to the Lok Sabha Speaker, where he requested the formation of an inquiry committee to look into the allegations against MP Mahua Moitra. Additionally, he has sought Moitra’s suspension from the House pending the outcome of the investigation. The political landscape appears to be heating up as these allegations and counter-allegations continue to unfold.
