In a troubling development, Kamaluddin Saeed, one of the sons of the notorious terrorist Hafiz Saeed, has been reported missing since Tuesday, September 26. According to reports, Kamaluddin Saeed was allegedly abducted in Peshawar by unidentified individuals who arrived in a car. It has been widely reported by several journalists in Pakistan that Pakistan’s intelligence agency ISI has been unable to trace his whereabouts.
Hafiz Saeed, an internationally designated terrorist and Pakistani national, is known as the mastermind behind the deadly 26/11 terror attacks in Mumbai. He is currently incarcerated in a Pakistani jail.
Hafiz Muhammad Saeed is also a co-founder of Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), an Islamist militant organization based in Pakistan. LeT has been designated as a terrorist group by various entities including the United Nations Security Council, India, the United States, the European Union, Australia, and Russia.
In March 2023, an anti-terrorism court in Pakistan sentenced three individuals to life imprisonment for their involvement in a powerful bomb blast outside Hafiz Saeed’s residence in Lahore in June 2021. This explosion resulted in three fatalities and over 20 injuries. The blast caused extensive damage to houses, shops, and vehicles in the vicinity.
Hafiz Saeed is a UN-designated terrorist with a USD 10 million bounty placed on him by the United States. He was arrested in July 2019 in connection with terror financing cases. Saeed-led Jamaat-ud-Dawa (JuD) serves as the front organization for the Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), which is responsible for the 2008 Mumbai attacks, claiming the lives of 166 people, including six Americans.
