Journalists’ body meets Maha CM, seeks renaming of Mumbai Central station for Nana Shankarsheth

A delegation of the Thane Zilla Patrakar Sangh, a local journalists’ organization, on Tuesday met Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and requested him to take up the issue of renaming the Mumbai Central Railway station as Nana Shankarsheth station.

Jagannath Shankarsheth Murkute, better known as Nana Shankarsheth, a 19th century Thane-born philanthropist and educationist, is known for the key role he played in the development of Mumbai.

The delegation, led by its president Sanjay Pitale met the chief minister and submitted a memorandum.
