Srinagar: In continuation to protracted efforts of the Border Security Force (BSF) to win heart and minds of the people living in the border areas of Jammu and Kashmir, especially youth, the 97 Battalion of the BSF, Trehgam, Kupwara, flagged off a Bharat Darshan Tour comprising a group of 14 boys and one teacher here on Monday.
The tour was flagged-off by Anil Varma, Officiating. Deputy Inspector General, SHQ Kupwara in presence of H S Rawat, Commandant 97 Battalion BSF. The Bharat Darshan tour is part of the Civic Action Programme of the Union Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) wherein a group of 14 Boys and one Teacher of Government High School of villages Keran, Mandia, Kundian and Patra near to Line of Control (LoC) under aegis of “Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav” was seen-off by the 97 Battalion BSF.
Known and respected people of Trehgam and LC villages marked their presence on the occasion, Abdul Rashid Peer, Imam of Trehgam, Mazaz Khan, Social Worker of Keran, Sabir Ahmad Malik, General Secretary Market Committee, Trehgam, Mustak Ahmad, Namberdar, Trehgam, Mohammad Sarif Tanzoo, Sarpanch, Trehgam (D), Jahangir Ahmad, Member of Market committee Trehgam, Nazir Ahmad, SHO Trehgam, school teachers and parents of students were present on the occasion.
During the seven days tour, these students will visit major tourist attractions in the Capital city of New Delhi, Pink city Jaipur and Ajmer.
These students will also visit places of historical/cultural importance in surrounding areas to Witness the multicultural and multilingual diversity of our beloved country.
This tour will provide a unique exposure to the students of the rich culture and heritage of India and will also enable them to gain first hand knowledge about various developments taking place in different parts of the country.
During the flag off ceremony, Commandant 97 Battalion H S Rawat said that a debate competition will be conducted among the participating students concerning their travelogue on their returns.
