Mumbai: Coming down heavily on the Shiv Sena Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray (SHSUBT) faction over the sensational Delhi murder case, Mumbai Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) unit chief MLA Adv Ashish Shelar remarked, “Are you silent because Shraddha Walkar was a Hindu or because Aftab, a Muslim? Are you silently backing Aftab.”
He said this while addressing the sixth meeting of ‘Jagar Mumbaicha’ held in Borivali on Thursday. The meeting was addressed by MP Gopal Shetty and MLA Sunil Rane while district president Ganesh Khankar and other BJP office bearers were also present.
Addressing the rally, Adv. Ashish Shelar said “today every household with a young girl is restless. Shraddha Walkar seems to be a girl from our homes who goes out for work and a murderer named Aftab chopped up her body into 35 pieces. He cuts her torso and keeps it in the fridge. We do not want another unfortunate Shraddha Walkar to happen neither to you nor to any one of us”.
“We do not want to politicize it, but the question remains that the one who died was Shraddha and the one who killed her was Aftab. Those who otherwise raise questions on humanitarian grounds – Shabana Azmi, Medha Patkar, Javed Akhtar, Sharad Pawar and Rahul Gandhi – are somehow silent on this case. This is a case of love jihad. Muslim boys abduct Hindu Marathi girls and carry out such heinous acts”, remarked Shelar.
The Mumbai BJP chief, further stated, “This will happen every time when acts of bootlicking and appeasement increase. Our question is to Aaditya Thackeray – why didn’t you object to it? Why didn’t you protest? Is it because Shraddha was a Hindu and Aftab Muslim? Well, it shouldn’t happen to anyone but had it happened to a Muslim girl instead, then everyone in this country would have stood up against it.”
“Even after the murder of a Hindu Marathi girl, Uddhav Thackeray fails to raise his protest only because he does not want to let go off his Muslim votes. We demand that Aftab be hanged. Shiv Sena must have kept quiet for the Muslim votes. But to make sure that tomorrow this does not repeat with anyone, we are hosting this ‘Jagar’ (awakening)”, remarked Shelar.
