EJAC Kupwara holds awareness seminar on drug de-addiction coinciding with retirement function of Abdul Majeed Mir EJAC Gen Sec

Srinagar: Employees Joint Action Committee (EJAC) Kupwara led by district president Mir Fayaz held a daylong seminar on Drug de-addiction at town hall Handwara.

The programme was presided over by a well-known personality of district Kupwara Ghulam Rasool Banday. The function was also graced by the chief guest Abdul Majeed Mir, who attained superannuation on May 31.

Nazir Ahmad Mir, Union Territory vice president EJAC was guest of honour besides Bashir Ahmad Qureshi, Abu Faraz, Haji Abdul Rehman Mir, Pratpal, Ghulam Mohiuddin Dar, ZEO Rajwar, Haji Abdul Rehman Mir were special guests on the occasion.

A number of speakers spoke on the occasion and praised the service tenure of General Secretary EJAC Kupwara, Abdul Majeed Mir. District president EJAC, while speaking on the drug de-addiction emphasized that the whole society should come forward and eliminate the menace of drug addiction particularly among youngsters. He said that we should nip the evil in the bud as the threat of drug abuse has spread its tentacles deep in the society. 

District vice president EJAC Manzoor Ahmad Bhat laid stress on the need to keep close vigil on the students and sought cooperation from administration to put an end to this menace.

Many religious clerics also spoke on the occasion. Entire team of tehsil presidents of the district put hands together to make the district Kupwara free from drugs. They vowed that they will launch a vibrant and coherent movement and campaign against the social evil like drug abuse.

Handwara Media Association (HMA) extended full cooperation to the people, particularly EJAC leaders who have led a crusade against drug abuse.

Secretary EJAC Farooq Ahmad Dar also spoke on the occasion. Javid Abdullah conducted the proceedings of the event and Recitation of NAAT by Ishfaq Majeed son of a retired employee.

Later Abdul Majeed Mir General Secretary EJAC was presented by mementos and garlanded by the leaders of EJAC particularly Sahil Bashir. The leaders of EJAC lauded the exemplary service of Abdul Majeed Dar.
