Writes a letter to the Commissioner

Mumbai: BJP group leader in BMC, Prabhakar Shinde wrote a letter to the civic body Commissioner opposing additional financial provisions to be made after the budget. The budget was presented on February 3 for the year 2022-23. However, the civic body would be dissolved on March 7, 2022, till the next elections and the Commissioner would be incharge till then.

In the letter, Shinde said “The BMC would be dissolved from March 7, 2022, and elections are yet to be declared. Ward delimitation is not finalised yet then what is the need for the additional budgetary provision?”

The BJP leader raised several questions as to which are these urgent works for the additional budgetary provisions and who recommended these works. “It is very unfair that the funds are being sanctioned without listing the works. It is a wastage of tax payer’s money,” Shinde wrote.

He also alleged that these types of works are sanctioned to benefit the contractors. “BJP would oppose the additional financial provision for these works. The Commissioner should only sanction the funds when the new body comes to power,” the BJP leader added in the letter.
