92 BN CRPF Wadoora, Sopore Organizes U-15 Football Tournament to Mark 87th Raising Day of CRPF

Wadoora, Sopore: To commemorate the 87th Raising Day of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), the 92nd Battalion, CRPF Wadoora, Sopore, organized an enthusiastic Under-15 Football Tournament from July 25 to 27, 2025. The event saw active participation from students representing 16 schools across Sopore and Handwara, Jammu & Kashmir.

The tournament was held on the sprawling sports ground at the 92 BN CRPF headquarters and served as a vibrant platform for young athletes to showcase their talent, encourage sportsmanship, and foster a positive bond with security forces.

During the closing ceremony, Commandant Naresh Kumar addressed the participants, applauding their dedication and urging them to embrace discipline and teamwork not only in sports but also in life. He commended their spirited performance and efforts throughout the tournament.

The event was conducted under the Civic Action Programme (CAP) and the CRPF Madadgar initiative, underscoring the CRPF’s commitment to youth engagement and community development in the Kashmir Valley. Through CAP activities such as free medical camps, vocational training programs, and the “Bharat Darshan Tour” under the “Jano Apne Desh Ko” campaign, CRPF continues to extend support to the underprivileged sections of society. The CRPF Madadgar helpline (Toll-Free No. 14411) also remains a reliable support system for those in distress.

After three days of competitive play, the football team from Government Higher Secondary School, Hadipora, emerged as the tournament champions. Trophies were awarded to both the winning and runner-up teams. Individual awards were also given for Best Player and Best Goalkeeper. Additionally, football kits were distributed to all eight teams that reached the quarter-finals, and every participant received a football and a certificate of participation as a token of appreciation.

The closing ceremony was attended by Commandant Naresh Kumar, other officers from the 92 BN, and principals of the participating schools. Assistant Commandant Sudhir Sonavale extended his heartfelt gratitude to the Commandant for initiating such a meaningful event and thanked all teams for their enthusiastic involvement.

The tournament highlighted CRPF’s ongoing efforts to engage youth constructively and strengthen its ties with local communities through sports and public service.
