As much as 91.25 per cent of students passed the Class 12 examination of the Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education on Thursday with the girls outshining the boys.
Of nine regions in the state, Konkan region recorded the highest pass percentage of 96.01, while the Mumbai region recorded the lowest 88.13 per cent result, the board said. .
A total of 14,28,194 students had registered for the Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) examination and 14,16,371 appeared. Of them, 12,92,468 or 91.25 per cent of students passed, the official release said.
The HSC pass percentage last year was higher at 94.22.
The pass percentage of girls this year was 93.73 and that of boys 89.14.
In the science stream, 96.09 per cent students passed, followed by 90.42 per cent in commerce and 84.05 per cent in the arts streams.
