Maharashtra reported 2,515 new coronavirus infections on Tuesday, taking the tally of cases in the state to 20,48,802, said an official from the state health department.
As many as 35 people succumbed to the disease, taking the total fatality count to 51,360, he said.
Of new deaths, 25 were from the past 48 hours, eight from the last week and two deaths had taken place before that.
A total of 2,554 patients were discharged from hospitals on Tuesday, taking the overall number of recoveries in Maharashtra to 19,61,525, the official said.
The state now has 34,640 active cases.
Maharashtra’s case recovery rate stands at 95.74 per cent, while the fatality rate is 2.51 per cent.
Mumbai reported 375 fresh cases during the day while three persons died in the state capital due to COVID-19.
With this, the total count of cases in Mumbai went up to 3,12,655 and the death toll to 11,398.
The Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR), which includes Mumbai city and satellite towns, reported 693 new coronavirus cases, taking the cumulative caseload to 7,01,232 and the fatality count to 19,640.
Nashik division’s COVID-19 case tally is 2,79,158 and death count is 5,147.
The number of cases in the Pune division stands at 5,05,861 and death toll at 11,675.
Kolhapur division has reported 1,18,408 cases and 4,024 deaths till now, while Aurangabad division’s case tally stands at 75,670 and death count at 2,007.
Latur division has reported 83,302 cases until now and 2,482 fatalities.
Akola division has reported 74,509 cases while 1,620 people have succumbed to the disease until now.
Nagpur division has reported 2,10,512 infections and 4,680 fatalities to date.
With 48,958 tests on Tuesday, the number of samples tested reached 1,50,58,995.
As many as 1,67,694 people are in home quarantine while 1,805 are in institutional quarantine.
