Amid the ongoing uproar over controversial remarks made by priest Yati Narsinghanand against Prophet Muhammad, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath delivered a stern message on maintaining communal harmony. Adityanath emphasized that disrespectful comments against saints, religious figures, or deities from any religion would not be tolerated, and those responsible would face strict legal action.

Speaking about the importance of mutual respect across faiths, Adityanath stated, “If any person tampers with faith or makes derogatory remarks against great men, deities, or religious sects, they will be brought under the purview of law and punished rigorously. People of all sects and religions must respect each other.” His statement came during a review meeting on law and order with senior officials, including the chief secretary and director general of police (DGP), in light of the upcoming festive season.

The Chief Minister also took a firm stance against potential unrest, saying, “Anarchy, vandalism, or arson in the name of protest will not be tolerated. Whoever dares to engage in such activities will have to pay the price.”

FIR Against Narsinghanand

The controversy centers around Yati Narsinghanand, a priest based in Ghaziabad, who recently made inflammatory remarks against Prophet Muhammad, sparking outrage across various communities. An FIR has been lodged against him, though reports about his detention remain unclear, with UP police yet to confirm his status.

Narsinghanand, known for his history of provocative statements, has found himself in the middle of a storm of criticism. Several political parties, including the Samajwadi Party (SP), Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP), and National Conference (NC), have demanded his immediate arrest. Muslim organizations have also expressed strong condemnation, calling for swift legal action.

As the state prepares for upcoming festivals, Adityanath’s administration is keen to ensure that communal peace is maintained, sending a message of zero tolerance toward religious disrespect or violence.
