“Yoga for One Earth, One Health”: PM Modi Leads Global Message of Unity, Peace on 11th International Yoga Day

Visakhapatnam: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday extended heartfelt greetings to people across the world on the occasion of the 11th International Yoga Day, celebrating how the ancient Indian practice has transformed into a global symbol of harmony, well-being, and environmental consciousness.

Addressing a grand event in Visakhapatnam, PM Modi emphasized that in today’s world — burdened by stress, unrest, and instability — Yoga offers the direction towards peace. “Unfortunately, the world is going through some form of turmoil. In such a situation, Yoga gives us the guidance we need — to find calm in chaos, and unity in division,” he said.

This year’s theme, “Yoga for One Earth, One Health,” resonated deeply in the Prime Minister’s message, where he stressed the interdependence of all life on Earth. “The health of the soil, the rivers, the animals, the plants — and our own well-being — are all connected. Yoga awakens us to this awareness and teaches us that we are not separate from nature, but a part of it,” he said.

PM Modi called for the world to adopt a new vision — “Yoga for Humanity 2.0” — where inner peace becomes global policy, and Yoga is recognized as a shared cultural and spiritual heritage of all humankind. “Yoga is beyond boundaries, beyond backgrounds, beyond age or ability. It belongs to everyone,” he asserted.

Highlighting inspiring global participation, Modi proudly shared how differently-abled individuals (Divyangs) are now learning Yoga Shastras in Braille, how scientists in space are incorporating yoga into their routines, and how even Indian Navy ships are hosting yoga sessions on deck — reflecting the all-encompassing reach of the movement.

“After 11 years, yoga has become a lifestyle for crores of people around the world. It has become part of the global consciousness,” Modi declared. Reflecting on India’s 2014 proposal to the United Nations that led to June 21 being declared International Yoga Day, he added, “Within a short span, 175 countries supported the resolution — a rare moment of global unity in today’s fractured world.”

From iconic landmarks like the Sydney Opera House, to the summit of Mount Everest, and even to the depths of the ocean, Modi said the message of yoga has spread across all geographies. “Yoga is everywhere because it belongs to all,” he concluded.
