Will not tolerate Nizamuddin like situation in Maharashtra: CM Uddhav Thackeray

But will turn a blind eye to Nawab Malik for cancelling important BMC circular

Mumbai:  Even as the nation is yet to come to terms with the possible catastrophe in the aftermath of irresponsible behaviour of those who came here after attending Tablighi Jamaat Markaz at Nizamuddin, Delhi, the state government appears to be clueless about its cascading effects. This is evident from the actions of the state government over last three days.

On one hand, the government is trying to appear strict against those being irresponsible to defy lockdown orders, while on the other, the actions are suggesting the contrary. The miscommunication and lack of consensus among the parties in ruling tripod government are becoming visible with each passing day.

It was on March 30 that the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) issued guidelines on disposal of the dead bodies of Covid-19. According to the guidelines, all those died of Covid-19 had to be cremated, irrespective of their religion. The decision was taken on scientific grounds that burial of the bodies will give safe heaven to the virus to survive and spread in future. However, the circular was altered in no time as NCP minister Nawab Malik objected to it. The other partners and leaders of the ruling alliance didn’t even blink an eye though the decision will pose a grave threat to Mumbai forever.

According to Dr Nilesh Waghmare, “Virus is something that cannot be killed by any medicine. It is just a string of RNA and DNA. It can remain dormant for years together. Cremation of the dead bodies of Coivd-19 is the only way to prevent its spread in future. It will remain in the dead body and spread in to the ground and surrounding atmosphere. If the bodies are buried, the threat will loom large till eternity.”

Chief Spokesperson, state unit Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Madhav Bhandari said, “The Chief Minister and the state government are only doing lip service. It’s time for action. It is high time, that the ruling alliance rose above the politics of caste, creed and religion. If it fails to instil the fear of law among the errant and irresponsible people now, it would never be able to do so. Anyone who defies the rules must be punished.”

According to an estimate around 1,400 people from state had participated in Tablighi Jamaat Markaz at Nizamuddin in Delhi. Efforts to reach CM Uddhav Thackeray for his version proved futile. His media relations officer refused to answer the queries raised by TheNews21.com
