In a shocking incident, a bomb blast rocked the renowned Rameshwaram Cafe in Bengaluru city on Friday afternoon, leaving nine individuals seriously injured. The explosion occurred suddenly at the cafe located in Kundalahalli under the jurisdiction of the HAL Police Station, sparking chaos as patrons rushed to safety. Initial assessments point to the explosion being caused by a low-intensity improvised explosive device (IED).
CCTV footage capturing the blast and its immediate aftermath has emerged, providing a chilling glimpse into the harrowing incident. The video initially shows customers calmly seated at the cafe, with staff members attending to their duties. However, the tranquility is shattered by the sudden explosion, engulfing the area in a thick cloud of smoke. As the smoke clears, the footage reveals individuals lying injured on the floor, while others react in shock and confusion to the blast.
Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah confirmed the occurrence of the low-intensity IED bomb blast at Rameshwaram Cafe. He revealed that nine people sustained injuries in the explosion, which was triggered by an unidentified individual leaving a bag at the cafe, as captured in the CCTV footage.
Further adding to the gravity of the situation, the Chief Minister disclosed that this blast marks the first such occurrence under his government’s tenure. Urgent measures were undertaken as the state’s home minister was dispatched to the cafe to assess the situation.
Emergency response teams, including senior police officers, dog squads, fingerprint experts, and bomb disposal squads, swiftly arrived at the scene to investigate the incident and ensure public safety. The immediate vicinity around the cafe has been cordoned off by authorities as investigations continue.
