Mumbai: The book “Without and Within” written by Venerable Ajahn Jayasāro which has been translated into Marathi (Sabahya Aani Aantari) was released here on Sunday evening. He has written many books on Buddhist themes including his latest book in English “Without and Within” which is a general introduction to the Theravada Buddhist tradition.

Ajahn Jayasāro is also a key figure in the movement to integrate Buddhist developmental principles into the Thai education system.  Many of his Dhamma talks are broadcast on radio and television.

Ven. Ajahn Jayasaro, is known worldwide for his Dhamma teachings and meditation retreats which inspire both lay Buddhists and monastics.

Ajahn Jayasāro (born Shaun Michael Chiverton in 1958) is a British-Thai Buddhist monk in the Forest Tradition of Ajahn Chah. In the great lineage of Thai Forest practice where the lay practitioner progressively works towards deeper meditative practices, the purpose is to transcend everyday reality to a state of reality imbued with those states of higher concentration.

The Thai Forest practice lays focus for the self to empirically establish truth, which is the sine-qua-non of Gautam the Buddha teaching. This school avoids debates of theoretical construct and rather traps of dry insight, insight without any development of concentration), and teaches that nibbāna must be discovered through deeper concentration.

This program was organized by ‘Metta Global Foundation’ which is a non-profit organization based in Mumbai. The foundation’s activities and work are based on Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar’s philosophies and thoughts. It is dedicated towards empowering the youth and facilitating the access and reach of the noble teachings of the Buddha. The Metta Global Foundation on behalf of everyone present would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to venerable Ajahn Jayasaro for gracing this occasion.
