Lucknow: A Booth Level Officer (BLO) involved in voter list revision in Gonda district, Vipin Yadav, tragically passed away on Tuesday after allegedly consuming poison. Vipin, an assistant teacher at a government school in Jaitpur Majha, was initially taken to Gonda Medical College in critical condition and later transferred to Lucknow’s King George’s Medical University (KGMU), where he was declared dead.
Officials stated that SDM Sadar Ashok Kumar personally accompanied the ambulance to ensure all medical arrangements were in place. Despite intensive efforts by doctors to revive him for nearly 30 minutes at the trauma centre, the poisoning had caused severe respiratory distress. Police were deployed at KGMU due to heightened tensions among local teachers.
A video posted on social media by Vipin’s wife, Seema Yadav, claimed that he faced constant pressure from local officials, including the Tarabganj SDM, Nawabganj BDO, and a lekhpal, related to voter list revision duties. The district administration, however, has refuted these claims.
District Magistrate Priyanka Niranjan stated that Vipin was reportedly under family-related stress and may have been provoked into making the allegations. She confirmed that Vipin had completed a significant portion of his assigned booth work and faced no official pressure. The inquiry is also examining the involvement of Vipin’s wife in the matter.
