About TheNews21
TheNews21.com is a leading, Mumbai-based English-language news portal with a national focus. We concentrate on policy-making at the State and Central government levels to provide in-depth, cutting-edge reports across the country while also analyzing major foreign affairs’ issues. Our portal also hosts in-depth investigation features, developments in the business sector, and keeps a pulse on the world of sports and entertainment. The portal was launched on September 2, 2019.
Who are we?

A Marathi news portal Maharashtra.city is another product of the parent company, which was launched on May 14, 2021.
TheNews21 had carried an in-depth expose on China’s culpability in the spread of the Covid-19 pandemic. Based on our series of reports, Larry Klayman from the US has filed a suit against China in the International Court of Justice (ICJ).
How are we funded?

My Profile
Vivek Bhavsar
I am the founder and editor of Thenews21.com. I am a science graduate armed with a diploma in Business Management before my varied interests turned me in the direction of journalism.
Starting as a reporter in 1993, I have since straddled a diverse range of beats and held several positions during my 26 year-long careers as a journalist.
During my stints at reputed vernacular and English -language dailies like the Asian Age and the Free Press Journal, I have demonstrated my versatility in covering the gamut of beats from policy-making to urban ecology.
While reporting extensively on socio-political issues across Maharashtra, I have found my métier in political journalism as an expert on government policy-making.
I have made my mark as an investigative journalist with exposes of government corruption and deft analyses of the decisions made in the Mantralaya, as exemplified in my series of reports on the multi-crore petrochemical project at Nanar in the State’s Konkan region, which ultimately compelled the government to scrap the enterprise.
Why do we need investors?
TheNews21.com is a two-year-old portal whereas Maharashtra.city is a six-month-old baby. Hitherto, the main financial resource of the portal were donations from readers. We had 14 reporters in the first year but were forced to reduce our staff to eight owing to the pandemic, which has made it hard to sustain quality journalism.
Hence, we are looking for non-loan investments and would prefer institutional investment or donations from corporate companies. We need a steady flow of investment for three consecutive fiscal years instead of equity in the company.
