The government today said that the unemployment rate among youth has been on a declining trend in the country till 2020. As per the annual periodic labour force survey report estimated unemployment rate for usual status for age 15-29 years was 17.8 percent in 2017-18, 17.3 percent in 2018-19, and 15.0 percent in 2019-20. In a written reply in the Rajya Sabha Labour and Employment minister, Bhupender Yadav said, employment generation coupled with improving employability is the priority of the government.
The minister said, Aatmanirbhar Bharat Rojgar Yojana has been launched on 1st October 2020 as part of Atmanirbhar Bharat Package 3.0 to incentivize employers for creation of new employment along with social security benefits.
