The controversy surrounding the Nashik BPO unit of Tata Consultancy Services intensified on Monday after Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Priyanka Chaturvedi strongly criticised the company’s official response to serious allegations of harassment and coercion.

She wrote that the response reflected a “tone-deaf approach” toward issues involving women employees and alleged coercion, calling it deeply disappointing for a reputed organisation.

The company added that immediate action was taken after the matter came to light, and employees allegedly involved in the case were suspended pending investigation.
TCS also said it prioritises employee safety and well-being and is cooperating with the ongoing inquiry.
Serious allegations emerge from Nashik BPO unit
The controversy erupted after eight female employees and one male employee filed complaints alleging mental and sexual harassment at the Nashik-based BPO unit.
The complainants also alleged forced religious practices, including pressure to offer namaz and consume beef, along with attempts at religious conversion.
These allegations have sparked a major legal and political row, drawing attention to workplace safety and corporate accountability.
Police action and arrests in the case
According to police officials, seven individuals, including managerial staff and HR personnel, have been taken into custody and remanded to police custody.
Those named include Asif Ansari, Shafi Shaikh, Shahrukh Qureshi, Raza Memon, Tausif Attar, Mohammed Danish Shaikh, and Assistant General Manager (HR) Nida Khan based in Pune.
Investigations are currently underway as authorities examine the claims made by employees.
