As the political landscape gears up for the impending Lok Sabha elections, Shiv Sena’s United Bahujan Thackeray faction leader, Sanjay Raut, unveiled significant progress in discussions regarding seat sharing with key political entities.
Raut highlighted the advanced stage of talks between Shiv Sena and a consortium comprising Congress, NCP, Shiv Sena, and Prakash Ambedkar’s Vanchit Bahujan Aaghadi. Emphasizing the positive nature of these discussions, Raut expressed optimism about resolving any potential clashes among the four parties involved. He revealed ongoing dialogues with Congress and Prakash Ambedkar, signaling a nearing finalization of the seat-sharing arrangement.
In a strategic move indicative of the election fervor, the Congress leadership, including party president Mallikarjun Kharge and Rahul Gandhi, conducted crucial meetings with members of the Alliance and Manifesto Committees in the national capital.
Mukul Wasnik, the convener of the Congress Alliance Committee, shed light on discussions revolving around the allocation of seats for Congress within the INDIA bloc. He conveyed that details from deliberations with leaders from various states within the alliance were presented to party top brass Kharge, Rahul Gandhi, and KC Venugopal, the Organization General Secretary. Further plans include state-specific discussions with other INDIA bloc allies, indicating a concerted effort to solidify the coalition.
Simultaneously, P Chidambaram, providing insights into the Manifesto Committee’s proceedings, highlighted this initial meeting as a preparatory step. He mentioned that preliminary ideas were exchanged and anticipated a subsequent meeting next week to delve deeper into formulating Congress’s manifesto for the upcoming Lok Sabha polls.
The flurry of discussions, with Shiv Sena at the forefront of negotiations, indicates the strategic alliances being forged ahead of the crucial electoral battle.
