Schools reopen in Kashmir valley after long winter vacations

SrinagarSchools across the Kashmir valley reopened on Saturday after the winter break, bringing a sense of excitement and enthusiasm among students and teachers.

To mark the occasion, Director of School Education Kashmir (DSEK), Dr. G.N. Itoo participated in the morning assembly at Government Model Higher Secondary School at Kokernag, located in the remote Anantnag district. Interacting with the students in their mother tongue, he inquired about their activities during the winter vacations and shared in their joy of returning to school.

Addressing the teachers, Dr. Itoo emphasized the importance of imparting moral education and serving as role models for students. He urged them to promote cleanliness and environmental conservation, particularly the protection of water bodies.

Highlighting the growing social challenges, Dr. Itoo stressed the need for awareness programs on the harmful effects of drug abuse, advising schools to dedicate Wednesday’s to educating students on this critical issue. He also emphasized responsible use of mobile phones, cautioning against their negative impact on young minds.

The reopening of schools marks a fresh start for students, with a renewed focus on academics, character building, and social awareness.
