Petersburg: At the invitation of the Committee on External Relations of the Administration of Saint Petersburg and within the framework of the initiative of the Russian House in Mumbai to celebrate the 55th anniversary of the twin ties between Saint Petersburg and Mumbai, the Speaker of the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly, Rahul Narwekar visited the Russia’s northern capital between September 15 to 18.

Following recently successful road shows and presentations organized in Mumbai by the Committee for the Development of Tourism of Saint Petersburg, the parties discussed the opening of direct flights between cities.
During the meeting of Narwekar with the First Deputy Chairman of the Legislative Assembly of Saint Petersburg, Nikolai Bondarenko, a decision was made to establish permanent working contacts with the prospect of signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the legislative bodies of Saint Petersburg and Maharashtra. Saint Petersburg legislators gratefully accepted an invitation to visit Mumbai to exchange experience in regulating the economic and social spheres, including support for start-ups, import substitution, and public health.
Rahul Narwekar also visited the only institution of secondary education in Russia with the study of Hindi – school No. 653 named after Rabindranath Tagore.
