Massive Theft Reported From Senior Politician’s Residence
A major theft has been reported from the Mumbai residence of Shinde Sena leader and Maharashtra Legislative Council Deputy Chairperson Sachin Ahir, with valuables estimated to be worth around ₹2.65 crore allegedly stolen over an extended period. According to media reports, the Mumbai Crime Branch has arrested a long-serving domestic employee in connection with the case.
The alleged theft is said to have involved high-value assets, including gold biscuits, diamond jewellery, silver articles and cash, making it one of the most significant residential theft cases involving a senior political leader in Maharashtra in recent years.
Missing Valuables Detected During Internal Verification
As per media reports, the theft did not occur in a single incident. Instead, members of the Ahir family reportedly began noticing that expensive belongings stored inside the house were gradually disappearing.
Following a detailed verification of household valuables, the family allegedly discovered that property worth nearly ₹2.65 crore was unaccounted for. After confirming the losses, Sachin Ahir approached law enforcement authorities, leading to the registration of a criminal case and the launch of an investigation.
Long-Time Domestic Employee Taken Into Custody
Police have arrested Pravin Ramesh Solanki, who had been employed by the Ahir family for nearly 24 years. Owing to his long association with the family, Solanki had reportedly earned their trust and was responsible for housekeeping and maintenance duties at both the residence and the family’s office.
Investigators believe his familiarity with the household and knowledge of where valuables were kept may have enabled the alleged thefts to take place without attracting immediate attention.
Police Probe Disposal Of Stolen Property
According to police officials, the accused allegedly admitted during questioning that some of the stolen valuables had been sold and the proceeds distributed among his associates. Investigators are now attempting to recover the missing property and identify anyone who may have assisted in disposing of the valuables.
The investigation has been entrusted to the Mumbai Crime Branch due to the substantial value of the stolen assets and the high-profile nature of the complainant.
Crime Branch Continues Investigation
Sachin Ahir’s family resides at Gulrukh Building on Worli Sea Face in Mumbai, where the accused had been working for over two decades. Officials suspect the alleged thefts were carried out over time, taking advantage of the family’s routine and the employee’s unrestricted access to the residence.
Police are continuing their investigation to establish the complete chain of events, recover the remaining valuables and determine whether additional individuals were involved in the alleged crime.
