RCB Storm Into IPL 2026 Final With Ruthless 92-Run Demo Of Gujarat Titans

Dharamsala: The fireworks over Dharamsala had started well before the match had officially finished. Now the contest was over, in spirit, on the scoreboard, and in terms of domination. Royal Challengers Bengaluru produced one of the most complete performances of IPL 2026 to crush Gujarat Titans by a massive 92 runs and march into their fifth IPL final under pressure, under expectation and under the weight of history in Qualifier 1.

Virat Kohli and Shubman Gill featured in the high-stakes IPL 2026 Qualifier 1 clash between RCB and Gujarat Titans.

RCB have been a team of heartbreak, chaos and near misses for years. But this Bengaluru is different – calmer, sharper and a lot more ruthless. On a night when every department clicked perfectly, they outplayed Gujarat in batting, bowling and fielding, leaving Shubman Gill’s side chasing shadows from the very beginning.

RCB are now only one win away from defending their IPL title. The final will be on May 31 in Ahmedabad.

Patidar leads the way; Kohli anchors

Captain Rajat Patidar set the tone for RCB’s emphatic win, leading from the front with fearless intent once again. Patidar’s aggressive batting changed the momentum early, putting Gujarat under immediate pressure.

At the other end, Virat Kohli played the stabilising role to perfection, anchoring the innings during the powerplay with his typical control and composure. Kohli’s capacity to rotate the strike and soak up pressure meant the aggressive batters around him could go for their shots unencumbered.

Devdutt Padikkal brought finesse and impetus, while Krunal Pandya played another useful all-round innings that showed RCB’s better depth this season.

Every alliance was harmful to Gujarat. The game seemed to be slipping further away from them all.

GT Never Really Got Into The Competition

Even before the chase started, something in the stadium hinted at the scale of the challenge. The Gujarat Titans needed 255 runs – a huge target by IPL history standards.

They never got going in the innings. The turning point came early when Sai Sudharsan was dismissed in a freak hit-wicket, symbolising a disastrous night for Gujarat. Captain Shubman Gill later admitted that fielding errors and pressure situations completely derailed the side.

‘We were going along nicely until the 12th or 13th over. Fielding was below par in catching and ground fielding. “We want to forget that game and start over,” Gill said after the loss.

The GT skipper also said that it was almost impossible to chase on a batting-friendly pitch, especially without a good powerplay start.

Bhuvneshwar Strikes Again

An RCB bowler celebrates passionately after dismissing a Gujarat Titans batter during the IPL 2026 playoff clash.

RCB’s bowling attack once again proved why they have been one of the biggest reasons for their title push this season. Bhuvneshwar Kumar, the holder of the Purple Cap, produced another masterclass with the new ball, choking Gujarat early with his movement, discipline and smart planning. His wickets meant GT never really got going in the chase.

Bhuvneshwar credited preparation and analytical planning behind RCB’s success after the match.

“We have to give a lot of credit to the planning that went on behind the scenes. We are data-driven, searching for new patterns and player tendencies all the time. The idea was not to give room and attack the stumps,” he said.

Josh Hazlewood, along with him, bowled crucial blows with relentless accuracy, and Rasikh Salam and Krunal Pandya took wickets at important intervals to completely destroy Gujarat’s chase.

Each of those breakthroughs tightened RCB’s grip on the match.

Fielding seals statement victory

RCB players celebrate during their dominant 92-run victory over Gujarat Titans in the IPL 2026 Qualifier 1 clash.

If the batting exerted pressure and the bowling held it, then RCB’s fielding did the rest of the destruction. The defining image of the night came right at the end, when Tim David sprinted in from long-off and dived forward to take a stunning catch that sealed Gujarat’s innings and triggered celebrations across Dharamsala.

Bengaluru’s sheer dominance was evident in the 92-run victory. GT never really had a chance to win the game at any point.

RCB One Step Away From Glory

Virat Kohli celebrates with RCB teammates after a crucial breakthrough in the IPL 2026 Qualifier 1 clash.

RCB is through to the IPL 2026 final and will get a four-day break before heading back to Ahmedabad for the title clash on May 31.

Gujarat Titans, however, still have one last shot. They will take on the winner of the eliminator between the Rajasthan Royals and the Sunrisers Hyderabad in Qualifier 2 on May 29 in New Chandigarh.

But for the moment, the night is Bengaluru’s alone. One game remaining. Only one dream left. And after years of waiting, RCB are once again on the verge of making IPL history.
