Rajnath Singh in Lok Sabha: “Operation Sindoor Was Paused Only After Objectives Were Met — No External Pressure”

New Delhi: Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, speaking in the Lok Sabha during the high-stakes debate on Operation Sindoor, strongly rejected claims that India halted its military operation under international pressure. He asserted that the mission was paused only after it successfully met its strategic and military goals.

“India paused its action because the predecided political and military objectives were achieved. Saying that this operation was paused under any pressure is baseless and absolutely wrong,” Singh declared, addressing the Opposition’s questions over the timing and cessation of the cross-border offensive.

Operation Sindoor was launched by India in response to the brutal April 22 Pahalgam terror attack, in which 26 civilians, including a Nepali tourist, were killed by Pakistan-backed terrorists. The operation, spanning multiple phases, targeted terror camps and infrastructure inside Pakistan and Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir (PoK).

During his address, Rajnath Singh reiterated the government’s commitment to national security and took a veiled swipe at those questioning the intent or execution of the operation. “In my political life, I have always tried not to speak lies ever… I speak only what I know to be the truth, and this is the truth: India acted decisively, with bravery, and on its own terms.”
