Rahul Gandhi Leads INDIA Bloc Protest in Patna, Alleges EC Bias, Vows to Guard Bihar’s Mandate

Patna: Congress MP and Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, on Wednesday launched a blistering attack on the Election Commission (EC), alleging it was attempting to manipulate the electoral rolls in Bihar just as it had allegedly done in Maharashtra and Haryana.

Addressing a large gathering of INDIA bloc supporters during a protest march in Patna, Rahul Gandhi warned, “The Election Commission should know this is Bihar – and the people of Bihar will not allow their votes to be stolen. To steal their vote is to steal their future, employment, and rights.”

Rahul, dressed in his trademark white T-shirt and holding a red-covered copy of the Indian Constitution, was joined by RJD’s Tejashwi Yadav, CPI(ML) leader Dipankar Bhattacharya, CPI’s D Raja, CPI(M)’s M A Baby, and VIP leader Mukesh Sahani. The leaders were stopped by police barricades near Shaheed Smarak while marching from Income Tax Golambar to the Election Commission office.

He claimed that the Election Commission manipulated the Maharashtra electoral rolls, adding nearly one crore additional voters before the Assembly elections, which helped the BJP sweep seats where voter numbers spiked. “We asked for the polling booth videos and voter lists – but the EC hasn’t shared anything. Why are they hiding the truth?” he questioned.

Rahul said that INDIA bloc leaders recently met the EC regarding the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of voter rolls in Bihar but claimed the commission “spoke in the language of the BJP and RSS.” He alleged that the EC had become a political tool and warned, “You may feel protected now, but one day the law will catch up with you.”

RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav echoed the concerns, saying, “The Election Commission has become a puppet. First, they’ll erase the poor from the voter list, then they’ll snatch away ration, pensions, reservations – and finally, even their vote.”

Tejashwi added that Bihar, the cradle of Indian democracy, would resist such attempts. “Biharis may be poor, but they are aware and ready to fight,” he said.

Meanwhile, Congress leader Kanhaiya Kumar was reportedly prevented by security from joining senior INDIA leaders on their protest vehicle.
