Pune: The Kondhwa police have filed an FIR against renowned Pune-based builders Ankit Umesh Goel and Annuj Umesh Goel, the force behind Goel Ganga Developments in connection with a fraud of crores of rupees.

The duo is accused of cheating a female construction contractor working on a site at Undri of more than ₹9-crore. According to the complaint, all of this took place in the timeline between January 2018 and September 2020.

The police have registered a case under sections 420, 467, 468, 469 and 34 of the IPC based on the complaint of one Swati Tanaji Patil (42), a resident of Wagholi.

According to the police, the plaintiff, Swati Patil, is a construction contractor. The accused Ankit Goel and Annuj Goel are both builders of Goel Ganga Developments in Pune.

The accused have a firm called ‘Meenamani Ganga Builder’. A construction project at Undri, Taluka Haveli has been completed by this firm. A contract for the construction of this site was given to Swati Patil. As per the contract, ‘Meenamani Ganga Builder’ had to pay approximately ₹15.23 crore to Swati Patil. Out of which, approximately, ₹6.34 crore was paid by the Goels to Patil.

The amount of approximately ₹1.89 crores was supposed to be paid by cheque. It was also decided to give a flat worth approximately ₹7.34 crore to Patil.

However, the Goels sold the flats to third party customers. After purportedly selling the said flats, the same flats were then allegedly offered to Patil through an agreement.

Apart from this, the said amount to be paid by cheque has supposedly not been paid as yet. The police have received a cheating complaint in this matter. The cops, in turn, have filed an FIR after an initial investigation.
