Mamata Banerjee Should Resign As Chief Minister, Says Prakash Ambedkar

Mumbai: Commenting on the recent political developments in West Bengal, Prakash Ambedkar has demanded the resignation of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. In a social media post, the Vanchit Bahujan Aghadi chief said that constitutional principles and public mandate must be respected, triggering fresh political debate.

Ambedkar claimed that he and others had repeatedly warned Banerjee and her party leaders about what he described as the BJP’s “divisive political strategy,” but alleged that those warnings were ignored.

He further stated that the current political situation in West Bengal did not reflect the mandate given by the people and urged the Trinamool Congress leadership to respect democratic values.

Referring to constitutional procedures, Ambedkar argued that after the end of the transitional caretaker phase, there was no direct constitutional basis for continuing in office without properly following democratic norms. He said Mamata Banerjee should step down from the post of chief minister in order to uphold constitutional morality and democratic traditions.

The VBA leader also indirectly questioned the political approach of the Trinamool Congress, suggesting that the present crisis was the result of failing to respond effectively to the BJP’s political strategy in time.

Ambedkar’s remarks have intensified political discussions at a time when West Bengal is witnessing heightened tensions following the Assembly election results.
