Srinagar: Police personnel from the Jammu and Kashmir Police (J&K Police), personnel from the Indian Army, the Para-military forces paid solemn homage to martyrs to mark the Police Commemoration Day in the Kashmir valley on Thursday.
In a solemn ceremony, District Police Kulgam observed the Police Commemoration Day in DPL Kulgam and paid homage to martyrs.
A solemn function was organised to remember the brave Policemen who sacrificed their lives while discharging their duties, Police Commemoration Parade was conducted and rich tributes were paid to the departed souls who sacrificed their precious lives in the service of community and for safeguarding integrity and sovereignty of the nation.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Kulgam, Dr. G.V. Sundeep Chakravarty (IPS) along with other officers of Kulgam police, Rashtriya Rifles and Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) paid their homage by placing floral wreaths at the Martyrs Monument in DPL Kulgam.
Speaking on the occasion, SSP Kulgam while paying homage to all the martyred police personnel, applauded their memorable role. He further said that today we salute our martyrs for their determination, courage and spirit of sacrifice and renew our pledge that we will never allow any harm to the community or the nation.
During interaction with next of kin of the martyrs, SSP Kulgam heard their grievances, consoled and assured them that District Administration and JK Police stands by the family and will extend all possible help and support to the families as and when required. Later officers distributed blankets among the families of Martyrs.
Police Commemoration Day was observed at District Police Lines Kupwara with all respect and reverence for those who sacrificed their lives in the line of duty. The solemn function was attended by all the ranks and files of District Police Kupwara besides public representatives and families of martyrs participated in paying tributes to the martyrs.
All the dignitaries paid rich tributes to martyrs and lauded their supreme sacrifice while discharging their duties and upholding the democratic credentials of our country.
On this occasion a commemoration parade was held followed by laying of wreaths and floral tributes to martyrs.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Kupwara Yougal Manhas paid homage to all the Police and Security personnel who laid down their lives during the year 2020-2021 while performing their duties.
Speaking on the occasion, the SSP deliberated on the historical background of the day and eulogised the supreme sacrifices of these martyrs. District Development Council (DDC) Chairperson Kupwara Irfan Panditpuri, Vice Chairperson Haji Farooq, DDC members Habibullah Beg, Tahira Begum, Sonaullah Khan, Ghulam Mustafa Rahi, Adv Zahoor Magray and Nasir Lone, Chairman MC Kupwara Reyaz Mir, BDC Chairmen Nagina Bano & Fareed Ahmad Khan, Ex MLA Kupwara Bashir Dar, Mohammad Amin Bhat of JKAP, Ab Rehman Lone and Ab Rashid Zargar of BJP besides prominent members from civil society and media fraternity attended the function.
Abrar Ahmad Commandant Indian Railways Personnel 4th Bn and Commanding Officers of local Rashtriya Rifles and TA units besides CAPF also paid the tributes to the martyrs.
The SSP Kupwara expressed his commitment towards the welfare of the families of all martyrs. Expressing solidarity with the families of the martyrs, he said that Police Kupwara is duty bound to address the problem of all families of martyrs.
The officer directed all the subordinate formations to attend to the issues of families of the martyrs on priority so that they may not face any kind of inconvenience whatsoever. The officer revealed many initiatives aimed at redressing the problem of these families and lending a helping hand to them in the hour of need. He said we owe a lot to our martyrs and we have to keep their mission alive. On this occasion the families were present Tokens of respect by Police Kupwara
The Handwara Police observed Police Commemoration Day at District Police Lines Handwara.
Superintendent of Police Handwara Sundeep Gupta (IPS), ASP Handwara Mashkoor Ahmad (JKPS), SDPO Handwara, DYSP DAR Handwara, other senior officers of Police District Handwara, Para-military and NOKs of Martyred police personnel participated in the occasion for paying tributes to martyred police personnel. Rich tributes were paid to police personnel who sacrificed their precious lives in the line of duty across the country.
A commemoration parade was also held as a mark of respect to the martyred police and security officials. The Superintendent of Police (SP) Handwara read over the names of all Police and Security personnel who sacrificed their lives in the line of duty.
While remembering officials from Handwara PD who laid down their lives during the past, SP Handwara said that the country is indebted to all these martyrs and will always remember their sacrifices for upholding the rule of law and ensuring safety and security of the people.
Expressing solidarity with the families of the martyrs, he said that the administration will attend to their problems on priority and ensure that benefits of all welfare schemes percolate to them without any kind of delay.
The SP Handwara directed all the subordinate officers to promptly attend to the issues of families of the slain policemen on priority so that they may not face any inconvenience. SP Handwara also heard the NOKs of martyred Police personnel and assured them every possible assistance.
