Prime Minister Narendra Modi today launched two innovative customer-centric initiatives of the Reserve Bank of India. The two initiatives, namely, the RBI Retail Direct Scheme and the Reserve Bank – Integrated Ombudsman Scheme was virtually launched in presence of Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and RBI Governor Shaktikanta Das. The RBI Retail Direct Scheme is aimed at enhancing will allow investors to easily open and maintain their government securities account online with the RBI. On the other hand, the Reserve Bank – Integrated Ombudsman Scheme aims to further improve the grievance redress mechanism for resolving customer complaints. The central theme of the scheme is based on ‘One Nation-One Ombudsman’ with one portal, one email, and one address for the customers to lodge their complaints, track the status and provide feedback.
Speaking after launching the two schemes, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said, through Integrated Ombudsman Scheme- One Nation-One Ombudsman has taken shape in a real sense. He said the strength of democracy is how strong a country is in grievance redressal system.
The Prime Minister said small time investors cooperation will be very important in the investment of securities. Further, he asserted that the last person sitting in the remote corner of the country should be part of the financial inclusion. He opined that for a robust banking system, it is very important to have a robust economy. The Prime Minister informed that India is leading in digital transactions in the world. He said RBI has been doing its job as a sensitive regulator.
