PM Modi Expresses Grief Over Jhalawar School Tragedy, Calls It “Deeply Saddening”

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday expressed deep sorrow over the tragic collapse of a primary school roof in Rajasthan’s Jhalawar district, which claimed the lives of four students and injured at least 17 others. Calling the incident “tragic and deeply saddening,” the Prime Minister offered his condolences to the families affected and wished for the speedy recovery of the injured children.

In an official statement, PM Modi said, “The mishap at a school in Jhalawar, Rajasthan, is tragic and deeply saddening. My thoughts are with the affected students and their families in this difficult hour. Praying for the speedy recovery of the injured. Authorities are providing all possible assistance to those affected.”

The incident occurred earlier on Friday at the Piplodi Primary School, where students were attending regular classes when a portion of the roof suddenly caved in. Local authorities, along with police and rescue teams, rushed to the spot and launched a swift operation to pull children out of the debris.

State Education Minister Madan Dilawar, who is also the MLA from the region, termed the event as a “devastating loss” and assured a high-level inquiry into the collapse. “The treatment of the injured children is being fully borne by the government. We will ensure that strict action is taken if any negligence is found,” he stated.

Former Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot, too, expressed grief and called for immediate accountability. Heavy monsoon rains in the region over the past few days are being investigated as a possible contributing factor to the structural failure.
