New Delhi: A major development unfolded on Thursday in the controversial Justice Yashwant Varma cash haul case, as a three-judge inquiry panel submitted its report recommending the initiation of removal proceedings against the sitting judge of the Allahabad High Court.

The panel’s findings come in the wake of a startling discovery made earlier this year during a probe into a fire accident at Justice Varma’s official residence in Delhi. During the investigation, officials reportedly recovered a large quantity of cash, some of which was charred or half-burnt, raising serious questions about its source and legality.

According to sources familiar with the contents of the report, accessed by NDTV, the panel stated that there was “sufficient material on record” to justify further action against Justice Varma. The report stops short of assigning criminal intent but strongly suggests that the matter warrants deeper judicial scrutiny and possible removal under the established procedures of the Constitution.
