Open dumping of construction debris in Mahim west creates problem for residents, citizens appeal to BMC to take action

Mahim Residents Group has appealed to Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) to take strict action against those who are dumping construction debris alongside a road.

They have even said that BMC G North Solid Waste Management Dept officer Mr Irfan Qazi to start debris disposal service in Mahim West area, Open dumping of debris gunny bags are forcing the residents to live in unhygienic environments making their lives miserable.

 Arbitrary dumping of debris is being generated at household-level in Mahim West area.

This is causing residents great distress due to dumping of debris in gunny bags near trees, at main and internal roads.

The move taken by BMC will be helpful for residents taking up tenable repairs/renovations in their homes and will help reduce the haphazard dumping of debris through drug addicts.

They have even suggested service rates of BMC to pick up construction and demolition debris should be cheaper than those charged by private operators. This will encourage residents to give debris to BMC and will help the corporation to gather more revenue.
