Not much effect in Mumbai due to Bharat Bandh call given by farmers

@the_news_21

The Bharat Bandh call given by the farmers did not seem to have much effect on Mumbai. Mumbai’s lifeline, local trains as well as hotels, shops and commercial establishments are working as per routine. However, Agriculture Produce Market Committees in Navi Mumbai, Nashik, Dhule, Pune and Solapur are closed during the bandh. The ruling Shiv Sena which supports the Bandh call has said that the call is not political and people must willingly participate in it. AIR correspondent reports that Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation buses are plying as scheduled during the Bharat Bandh. Along with the local BEST buses, taxis and auto rickshaws are also plying in Mumbai. Transportation of essential commodities like milk, vegetables and fruits have been excluded from the bandh.

As informed by the Mumbai Police’s PRO, DCP S Chaitanya, continuous patrolling has been enforced in the city to ensure no untoward incident takes place. He has also appealed people to maintain peace and calm.
The bandh has received mixed response in Ahmednagar, Akola, Nandurbar, Raigad, Satara, Dhule, Yawatmal, Osmanabad and buldana, whereas Bhandara, Ratnagiri along with Mumbai, remained unaffected.
