The Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai (MCGM) has modified its guidelines which will be in tune with the new guidelines issued by the Central Government on home isolation. The MCGM has said that it will adhere to the Centre’s guidelines on home isolation and will implement the same to bring down the mortality rate among Covid-19 patients having comorbidities and are above 50 years of age.

The fatality rate among people between the age group of 50-60 years of age is high. Hence the Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai has decided to adhere and implement the Centre’s guidelines on home isolation by amending its own guidelines. In Mumbai, people below the age of 60 who are Covid positive asymptomatic or have mild symptoms and without comorbidities have been asked to undergo home isolation, provided they have a toilet in their homes. But with the statistical analysis indicating high fatality rate among people between the age group of 50-60 years of age, the MCGM has said that those individuals who are above 50 and are suffering from comorbidities will be convinced by the authorities that that they should not insist on home isolation and instead go for institutional quarantine. Such patients will be admitted to Covid Care Centre-2 or in dedicated covid hospitals. Besides, those individuals who are without comorbidities will be given an option of home isolation. Meanwhile, Maharashtra’s Covid recovery rate has improved to 72 per cent. Also, more than 4 lakh 70 thousand patients have been cured from the disease in the state.
