Comedian Bharti Singh and her husband Harsh have been detained by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) after cannabis was found from their Versova apartment. The search was conducted as part of the ongoing probe by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) into alleged drug use in the entertainment industry, he said.
“A team led by NCB’s zonal director Sameer Wankhede carried out a search at Bharti Singh’s residence at Lokhandwala Complex in Andheri based on specific information.
“A small quantity of cannabis was recovered from her place,” the official said.
“Singh’s name had cropped up during the interrogation of a drug peddler,” he said.
The agency is also carrying out searches at two other locations in the metropolis, the official added.
Wankhede told the news agency, “She and her husband both have been detained for questioning.”
They will be questioned at the Narcotics Control Bureau’s Ballard Estate office in Mumbai.
The NCB had earlier questioned Rampal and his partner Gabriella Demetriades.
“I have nothing to do with drugs. I have prescription for the medicine which was found at my residence and the prescription has been handed over to NCB officials,” Rampal told reporters.
Rampal, 47, had been summoned in the case related to alleged drug use in the Hindi film industry, the NCB official said.
His friend Paul Bartel, a foreign national, was arrested on Thursday following interrogation, the official added.
The NCB summoned Rampal and his partner Demetriades after conducting a search at the actor’s residence in suburban.
