Maharashtra’s oxygen is model is being appreciated at national level. State administration is following this model from mid-april and as a result, state has sufficient oxygen for medical use. News agency reports that , various government agencies are working in coordination for smooth supply and distribution of oxygen in the state. One IAS officer is appointed in the state as nodal officer for 2 revenue divisions. These officers coordinate with divisional commissioners and district collectors through video conferencing etc. and note down oxygen demands. This demand is forwarded to Food and Drug administration.
FDA official says, It analyses the production capacity, import capacity and chalk out daily distribution plans. Except in emergencies it is followed strictly. State has a capacity of production of 1350 MT oxygen. Rest is imported from Jamnagar, Bhilai, Bellari and Angul. Daily around 1600 to 1700 MT oxygen is distributed in the State.
About this state’s transport commissioner Avinash Dhakne said that, now the state has sufficient oxygen. To overcome the problem of oxygen tankers, nitrogen and other gas tankers are modified. FDA officer says, It helped to increase transport capacity by one third. While distributing these oxygen geographical mapping is also carried out to save transportation time. Active cases, local health facilities are also considered. After district level distribution, district collectors coordinates for intra-district allocation.
