Wardha: Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar publicly reprimanded a Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) worker on Thursday after noticing him throw a plastic bag on the ground while offering a bouquet to the leader during Pawar’s visit to Wardha. Pawar expressed his disappointment, emphasizing that such behaviour was shameful and unacceptable.
The incident occurred outside the Wardha District Collector’s office, where Pawar had arrived for a scheduled review meeting. A large crowd of NCP workers had gathered to welcome him with bouquets. As he stepped out of his car, some well-wishers attempted to touch his feet, but Pawar quickly intervened, saying firmly, “Don’t touch my feet. I don’t like it.”
The situation escalated when a bouquet was handed to a worker, who removed it from a plastic bag and carelessly discarded the bag on the ground. Pawar, known for his keen observation and straightforward manner, immediately noticed the act and scolded the worker in full view of the public:
“Is this how you behave? Throwing garbage like this? Are you not ashamed? Only fools litter the place like this,” he said.
Demonstrating his commitment to civic discipline, Pawar bent down to pick up the discarded bag, though a security guard quickly intervened. He continued admonishing the gathered workers: “I have told you a hundred times not to throw bags like this. People curse us for this kind of behaviour.”
