Mumbai: Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray today said that the prevalent Covid crisis has taught a big lesson and hence it is stressed strengthening the health infrastructure in the state.

The Chief Minister held a virtual meeting with the Paytm Foundation today. The Paytm Foundation has decided to cooperate with the state government in setting up oxygen plants, oxygen concentrators and in the vaccination drive against Covid-19.

The Chief Minister said that to give real meaning to development, the lives of people will have to be saved.

He said that in the first wave of Covid last year health facilities were deliberately augmented. However, he admitted that even those are falling short. Hence, he said, that after the commencement of the vaccination drive emphasis is being given on ramping up the health infrastructure.

He said more and more stress is being given to creating health facilities to thwart the possible third, fourth and fifth wave of Covid.

Thackeray said that oxygen is being considered as medicine now, and therefore it is planned to increase the oxygen production to 1500 metric tonne in the state.

He informed that bed capacity will also be ramped up, besides even the Covid centres will be increased.
