Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray today launched Mumbai Coastal Road Tunnel Boring Work in Mumbai while operating the giant tunnel boring machine ‘Mawla’. This machine will go on boring two longest tunnels in Mumbai. The tunnels will connect princess street and Priyadarshini Park in Mumbai.
The 12.1 metre wide tunnels are considered to be the widest tunnels in the country. The two tunnels in this project are expected to be completed by June 2022. BMC Commissioner Iqbal singh Chahal, Additional Municipal Commissioner Ashwini Bhide and Senior Officials of L&T were present on the occasion.
