Nagpur: Maharashtra government on Thursday said that by 2025 at least 30 percent of farmers’ will be shifted to solar power under the Prime Minister Kusum Yojana (PMKY). This was stated by deputy chief minister Devendra Fadnavis while replying to supplementary questions over a starred question raised during the question hour in the Legislative Council.
He further stated that for the installation of feeder solarisation and to give momentum to the scheme, farmers’ land will be taken on lease for a period of 30 years, and accordingly they will be paid Rs. 75,000 per hectare. Besides, he said that every year a 3 per cent hike will also be given by the government.
Fadnavis said that where the rates of the land are high there the amount will be given as per the ready reckoner rate by which he meant that it may be Rs. 75,000 or six per cent annually, whichever is more.
The deputy CM said that this will give momentum to feeder solarisation. The pilot feeder solarisation project was implemented in Ralegan-Siddhi which happens to be the village from where social activist Anna Hazare comes, Fadnavis said. He said that the villagers of Ralegan-Siddhi have asked for one more feeder to be solarised.
