The standoff between JPSC-JSSC aspirants and the Jharkhand government continued on Friday after representatives of the protesting students held discussions with a state government delegation over alleged irregularities in the recruitment examinations.
The meeting was described by both sides as constructive, but no immediate resolution was announced. Student representatives said their demands had been formally presented and that another round of discussions would be held.
Students Call First Round of Talks Positive
Piyush Kumar Singh, a spokesperson for the protesting students, said the delegation had placed all its demands before the government and indicated that further meetings would follow.
The students made it clear that the protest would continue for the time being despite the dialogue with government representatives.
Student leader Ravindra Paswan also described the meeting as positive and said it was the first phase of discussions between the two sides. He expressed confidence that the government would seriously examine the issues raised by the aspirants.
Government Says Students’ Concerns Will Be Examined
Jharkhand Minister Sudivya Kumar Sonu said the meeting was held in a cordial atmosphere and that the government had heard the students’ concerns.
According to the minister, the government is committed to examining the demands raised by the protesting aspirants.
A five-member government delegation took part in the discussions. The panel included ministers Dipika Pandey Singh and Sudivya Kumar, along with Chamra Linda, Sanjay Prasad and Additional Chief Secretary, Health, Ajoy Kumar Singh.
Why Are JPSC-JSSC Aspirants Protesting?
The protests are linked to allegations of irregularities in the recruitment examinations conducted by the Jharkhand Public Service Commission and Jharkhand Staff Selection Commission.
The protesters are demanding the cancellation of the 14th JPSC Civil Services Examination and want an independent investigation into the alleged irregularities.
They have proposed either a probe by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) or an inquiry by a panel of retired High Court judges from outside Jharkhand.
Protest Continues Despite Government Dialogue
The demonstrations at Jaipal Singh Munda Stadium in Ranchi have continued even after the government agreed to engage with representatives of the aspirants.
The protest had entered its 14th day on Friday, with six protesters continuing their hunger strike.
Student representatives have indicated that they will continue their agitation until they receive a satisfactory response to their demands. Further rounds of talks between the government and the protesting aspirants are expected to determine whether the ongoing deadlock can be resolved.
