In the midst of preparations for the consecration ceremony of Ram Lala at the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Temple in Ayodhya, a contentious debate has emerged regarding the invitations extended to attendees. The chief priest, Acharya Satyendra Das, at the temple took a veiled swipe at Uddhav Thackeray, the Shiv Sena (UBT) chief, over his comments concerning the absence of an invitation for the ceremony.
Das emphasized that invitations were solely dispatched to individuals who harbor a profound devotion to Lord Ram. He vehemently rejected the insinuation that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) was leveraging the name of Lord Ram for political gains. Instead, he lauded Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s reverence for Lord Ram and credited him for the significant work accomplished during his tenure. Das stressed that the event transcended politics; it epitomized the Prime Minister’s profound devotion.
Meanwhile, Thackeray responded to the invite controversy by asserting his unrestricted access to the Ram Lala shrine. Dismissing the need for a formal invitation, he highlighted his ability to visit the temple at his discretion, underlining his connection to Ram Lala as a devout follower. Thackeray also cautioned against politicizing the auspicious event.
The discourse further escalated with Das rebuking Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut, accusing him of derogatory remarks and disrespecting Lord Ram. Das condemned Raut’s alleged disregard, reminding him of the Sena’s historical alignment with the Ram-centric political narrative. Das underscored the irony of Raut’s statements, considering those aligned with Lord Ram’s ideology currently hold power.
Raut’s remarks, portraying the BJP’s purported reliance on Lord Ram for electoral gains, drew ire from various quarters. He suggested a complete political shift of the Prime Minister’s Office to Ayodhya, insinuating that the BJP’s electoral fortunes rest solely on invoking Ram’s name due to an alleged lack of substantial achievements.
The clash between religious sanctity and political posturing continues to intensify as the Ram Lala consecration ceremony approaches. The debate over invitations has stirred controversies, unveiling underlying tensions between religious reverence and political maneuvering, setting the stage for a confluence of divergent ideologies and aspirations. As Ayodhya prepares for this monumental occasion, the intersection of faith, power, and political rhetoric remains at the forefront, shaping the narrative surrounding the consecration of Ram Lala.
