Internet closure in Sopore, as nabbed OGW is later found dead in mysterious circumstances

Srinagar: On September 15, 2020, Tuesday at about 12:45 hours, one Over the Ground Worker (OGW) named Irfan Ahmad Dar (Age about 23/24 years) S/O Mohammad Akbar Dar R/O Sidiq Colony, Sopore was apprehended and two Chinese made Hand Grenades were recovered from his possession.

The local police have registered a case First Information Report (FIR) No. 257/2020 U/S 18 ULA (P) Act, 7/27 A. Act against the accused in Sopore Police Station and investigations were taken up immediately.

During the course of investigation, a Police Team visited Chairdaji area of Tujjar-Sharief along with the OGW for affecting some more recovery on the disclosure of the arrested OGW. 

In the meanwhile, the OGW while taking advantage of darkness and terrain managed to escape following which a separate case FIR No. 71/2020 U/S 224 IPC was registered in Bomai Police Station and during search the body of the OGW was found near the Stone Quarry of Tujjar-Sharief.

Accordingly the body was taken to the nearby Primary Health Centre (PHC), from where the body was shifted to Police Control Room (PCR) Kashmir Hospital for completing medical and other legal formalities and final disposal. The police spokesperson disclosed that further investigations in the case are going on.
